First Steward (Fulltime)

As a First Steward, you lead the stewarding team by ensuring exceptional cleanliness, sanitation, and organization across all back-of-house areas. You supervise daily stewarding operations, maintain HACCP and food safety standards, support the culinary team, and ensure all equipment, utensils, and workstations are maintained to the highest standards of hygiene and operational excellence.

What you will do

Lead and supervise the daily operations of the stewarding team, including Second Stewards and Galley Stewards.

Ensure all dishwashing, pot wash, cleaning, and sanitation tasks are completed efficiently and according to established standards.

Monitor the correct use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals while ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

Conduct routine inspections of back-of-house areas, ensuring kitchens, workstations, equipment, and service areas remain clean, organized, and HACCP compliant.

Coordinate the cleaning and preparation of equipment required for daily operations, events, and special functions.

Maintain cleaning schedules, sanitation records, and chemical usage logs.

Support the onboarding, training, coaching, and development of stewarding team members.

Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance requirements, supply shortages, or food safety concerns to the Assistant Chief Steward.

Ensure all stewarding equipment is properly maintained, stored, and available to support smooth kitchen operations.

Collaborate closely with the culinary team, Food & Beverage department, and Stewarding leadership to ensure efficient daily operations.

Your profile

Minimum 2–3 years of progressive stewarding experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.

Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene, sanitation procedures, food safety regulations, and HACCP principles.

Experience in a hotel, resort, or high-volume food service operation is preferred.

Leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining exceptional cleanliness and operational standards.

Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Food Handler Permit or willingness to obtain certification.
